3D to 2D
This was our final assignment. We simply took a piece that we made earlier in the semester and took a picture of it in the real world. Turning a dimensional object into a flat photograph.
Relief Poster
We took an original advertisement of some sort and put our own ironic twist on it. Using photoshop I manipulated the texts and all the images to really demonstrate how awful walmart truly is.
Paper Stacking
For this project we took nice quality paper and stacked one piece on top of another in order to create a dimensional figure from nature. Once the figure is 99% the right shape I sanded it down to get the smooth edges.
Chest of Drawers
This is a self portrait. not any ordinary one though. We had to construct some sort of "chest" containing at least 3 "drawers". No real specifications at all, just originality.
Hybrid sculpture w/ sketch
These we made after i originally made copies of natural items i found in nature out of only masking tape. (sorry no pics of those) After we finished that project we cut out nature items into random chunks and taped them back together in abstract order.
Masking Tape Shoes
This assignment required us to take any pair of shoes with laces and make an exact copy or model of them using only masking tape. Layers on layers with precision cuts and plenty of time were the main keys to completing theses. You don't realize how many different layers and bends go into a pair on sneakers.
Soap Carving
The title kinda says it all. We started with a bar of soap and slowly chizzled away at it until we got the form we were replicating. Not EASY! Finally we had to place our carving in a narrative, I decided to make a short video.
Body and Form
This assignment required us to construct a dimensional "costume" that changed our body into another form which helped us to tell our narrative. It took a lot of thought and planning to make sure the negative space was going to work out.
Paper Boxes
This assignment was to familiarize us with using minimal materials, and to really use our imagination as the main tool in construction. Only White Copy Paper
